GERMANTOWN
AERIAL VIEW
Germantown has been one of the oldest (site of the Battle of Germantown in 1777) and finest (home of Cliveden, Upsala, and Grumblethorpe) neighborhoods in Philadelphia.  Historically, residents of the rowhouses around West Queen Lane could walk to work at the boat factory (mid-block in the drawing), to main street shopping, church, school and transportation.
